I am currently looking for teams around the world that would be interested in sponsoring me to swim with them for a year. In addition to offering my world-class swimming for the team I represent in all national and international competitions I bring a wealth of experience and knowledge of the sport I would love to share with my new, international teammates. Here is a list of reasons a team should consider sponsoring me:

1. Elite Swimming. One of the fastest backstrokers of all time with best times of 53.81 and 1:57.43 in the 100m and 200m backstroke.

2. Versatility. In addition to arguably being a better short course swimmer (my times in the 25 yard pool are arguably faster than my 50m times) I am an accomplished freestyler that could help out with relays. My best times are 49.4 (relay split) and 1:49.50 in the 100m and 200m freestyle although I have never been able to compete in either at a major meet because they always conflict with the backstrokes.

3. Knowledge. I have trained under perhaps the greatest coach in American history, Eddie Reese, for three years now. In that time I have also trained alongside a world record holder in each stroke: Aaron Peirsol, Ian Crocker, Brendan Hansen and Neil Walker. I have learned why they are so successful and can share tips with my teammates and coaches about technique in all four strokes as well as general training habits.

4. Role Model. Swimming aside, I am a big believer in achieving both in and out of the pool. I graduated from Harvard University in 2006 where I was an Academic All-American in addition to being named Harvard's Most Outstanding Athlete. I was voted Captain of my high school team, at Harvard, and by my Team USA peers at the Japan International Grand Prix. I work hard and encourage those around me to better themselves each day. I will lead by example for whatever team sponsors me.

5. Helping Each Other. While I can offer my numerous skills for an international team I am eager to learn from you. I speak French and am conversational in Spanish. I love languages and so see this as an opportunity to become fluent in whatever language is spoken by my international teammates in order to better communicate with them and to use that language in the future.

If you, your team or a team you know are interested in receiving all these benefits, please contact me at: david.cromwell@davidcromwell.net

  • Current Album:NKOTB (OH YEAH!), Warren Zevon, Eddie Vedder
  • Current Book: Lot of reading: liked The Alchemist, but not passionately in love with it. That passionate love did come for The Art of Racing in the Rain, just an absolutely fantastic book by Garth Stein. Am currently reading Seven Years in Tibet.
  • Current Movie:LOVED Gonzo, the movie about the works of Hunter S. Thompson. I'm a fan of Hunter's but not maniacal like other's and I must say that I left the movie equally impressed and equally
  • Quote of the Week: "Send lawyers, guns and money / The s#&! has hit the fan" -Warren Zevon
  • Set of the Week: Ended up running all the way to the top of Mount Sentinel but then realized I was late for lunch and had to run another 3 miles (thought it was more like one) to get to the restaurant. This was followed by a (through trickery by my friend) 16 mile hike the next day. Both were followed by Hoagieville Cheese Fries to counter my healthy pursuits.
