Sponsorships: Would you or your organization like to be part of helping an Olympic Hopeful accomplish his dream? More than that, someone that actually can serve as an example that with a little bit of extra commitment and personal fortitude anything is possible, be it in the water or out. I graduated valedictorian from Hellgate High School in little 'ole Missoula, Montana was an All-American and Academic All-American at Harvard and am now working up to 40 hours a week on top my swimming commitment. In short: my message is not just unique to swimmers. If you feel my dream is something you would like to help out, Please Contact:

Clinics/Appearances

I have experience conducting clinics and speaking to groups (large and small) all over the country, with every age group possible. My message is that the hardest thing to do sometimes is just decide you are going to see how good you can be, and just how much you can accomplish. Once you decide that, then it's just a matter of proving people wrong. This goes for swimming, academics and life. To quote Neil Walker, "you can come for a small place, and still win the big race." Just because no one had ever qualified for Senior Nationals or Olympic Trials in the history of Montana Swimming didn't mean I couldn't. Just because people said my Olympic dreams were over because I decided to put academics over athletics by attending Harvard University didn't mean I had to settle for Ivy League expectations, I wanted to succeed on the national and international stage. I am now a National Champion, one of the Top 10 fastest backstrokers of all time and "foolish" enough to believe I can make an Olympic Team. Along the way I also managed to be valedictorian of my high school and First Team Academic All-American too.

Additionally, on top of swimming for some of the greatest coaches in the world (Eddie Reese, Tim Murphy and Dave Berkoff) I have also coached alongside of each of them and have learned not only how improve as a swimmer, but how to make others around me better too. I therefore like to work on all four strokes at my clinics, as I love to both train and coach/teach complete swimming improvement.

Untitled Document
  • Current Album: Have become a huge believer in NPR's "First Listen" and "Song of the Day," and they've gifted me some Spanish flavor with The Pinker Tones though am currently captured by David Karsten Daniels. Great album.
  • Current Book: Recently finished East of Eden and Accidental Billionaires and must say that the latter was on the other side of ridiculous. Let me attest that Harvard does not involve the parties, women or anything resembling the drama described in those pages. Still, was interesting reading how blown out of proportion the whole thing has become.
  • Current Movie: Went through and saw one of Pedro Almodovar's first movies What Have I Done to Deserve This, and would probably say that it's a movie that if you've lived in Madrid you'd enjoy and-if not-you probably wouldn't. You could also read that sentence as me subtly hinting that I live in Europe, you do not.
  • Quote of the Week: We'll go with a bit of Spanish culture: "Tan despacio y tan de prisa / Tan normal y tan extrana / Yo me parto la camisa: como Camaron"
